The Jenner has served the Draconis Combine very successfully for many decades, despite its problems with heat and ammunition explosions. During the redesign of the 'Mech to incorporate lost Star League technology, a number of designers and engineers, led by Dr. Emiko Shita, suggested dropping the SRM-4 rack altogether and use the weight saved to improve the armor and maneuverability of the 'Mech. Their suggestions were ignored, and the Combine opted for the cheaper field upgrade (JR7-K) instead.
These actions infuriated Dr. Shita who immediately left the Combine with a number of her supporters. Most of them are now working at Omnicorp where their version of the venerable 'Mech is currently being produced.
This version of the Jenner replaces the SRM-4 rack with two extra tons of ferro-fibrous armor and extra jump jets. The heatsinks were also upgraded to double strength to dissipate the enormous heat generated by the 'Mech.
Although the lack of a missile rack eliminated the possibility of an ammunition explosion, this reduced the total firepower of the 'Mech. However, the increased mobility and staying power of the 'Mech offsets this deficiency, and makes the Jenner well equipped for deep strikes and reconnaissance missions during long campaigns.
There are no known variants of this 'mech.
