Whoot! My brakes are (sort of) working again! I've been told that it takes time for the fluid to settle in so my initial response yesterday was not a true indication of who my brakes will be eventually. Well, I'm going to keep an eye on the brake fluid level. I may need to keep it topped up for a little while.
Argh! The car was okay for a little while on the drive back (I topped off the brake fluid), but near the last leg of the trip home, I lost the brakes again. Fortunately, I had taken a "short cut" and was driving through residential areas, so I could crawl around on the small streets rather than risk my life in the fast lane.
When I checked my brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. What the.. how could it be? It was fine on the way to work..
The again, I was pumping the brakes a lot on the way back home. I tried filling up the tank again, and decided to pump the brake a few times to see if I could fill the system up again. Every time I pressed the pedal, I could hear a hissing noise coming from my rear left wheel. Eventually, the brake became less spongy and the hissing died down. Great, this was a bigger leak than I thought. I don't know if I could patch it up, but I'll need to take the tire off and see if I can cover the hose long enough so that I can get a few more kilometers from this beater.
But I don't have the time..

Oh man, I spent most of the night trying to figure out what kind of motherboard I got from AV. I think it's similar to the TC430HX, but it uses an AST bios so it's not quite it. Very annoying! Once I figure it out though, I should be able to install Debian on it and get it ready as my new server. It's just a tad bit more powerful than my server, and I'd like to start playing around with a separate server to host other sites since people have complained about not finding any cheap places for web hosting. (I'm currently reluctant due to my size limitations, but if I can keep all of my stuff on a single PC, I won't have to worry about crazy users taking down the other server. At least I'll still be getting my mail!)
This would mean, of course, that I'll have to use a different port for one of the servers. Mind you, I have been looking at SSL, so it'll be an interesting project to do. *adds to pile of uncompleted projects*

Man, I should've asked AV right from the beginning! He sent me a link to determine the exact factory items that came with the computer, even down to the screws! Dear lord, now that's precise!
I added in an extra hard drive to be used as swap space, so hopefully I'll be able to get this machine up and running the next time I have a block of time to waste. (All the components seem ready to go.)

I'd say your brakes will be Gumby i.e. pliant and somewhat firm. Or is that Dalton McGuinty? OH!!
