Ugh, I spent the last 36 hours trying to get my system back up and running. After figuring out that the problem was due to a known issue, and realizing that I was pretty much hosed unless I was able to get the system booted, I had to download Knoppix, which I spent one night doing. I spent last night running Knoppix to fix the yaird setup. Unfortunately, the CD-ROM on my server decided to start acting up on me, so I wasn't able to boot from the Knoppix CD, which meant that I unless I did some hardware swapping, I was SOL.
So I went to bed (pretty late) and hoped that the CD-ROM would feel good enough to work this morning.
Fortunately it was, and it was able to boot once, and I was able to make the necessary changes to the configuration file (I tried before but it screwed up) and I finally was able to get the server to boot on it's own.
Ironically enough, I used to keep a copy of the old kernel on the server on the off chance that a kernel upgrade would make my system unusable. I figured that I wouldn't have any sort of issues like that so I removed the extra kernel a couple of months ago.
*bangs head against wall*

Argh! I was planning to make some beef, corn and bean wrap but when I started cooking the beef that I had in the freezer, I realized that it wasn't ground beef. It was ground pork! Hmm, ground pork, with corn, beans salsa, and cheese in a tortilla?
I'll pass.

I headed to the hill for a shift leader meeting which turned out to be mostly useless as only two people showed up , and the two of us were in fact probably the ones who needed this meeting the least! Argh! (Another fifteen litres of gas gone.)
I headed to MasterStorm's place for a LAN party that he was organizing. We (there were about eight of us) played some counter-strike and Age of Mythology before I had to head out to the company party.
I arrived not long before the food was served, so I didn't have time to socialize before dinner, so I was surprised to see so many people there I recognized and didn't expect to be invited. (Like my parents, or P, or HT's parents.) I think I was one of the few people who went to the party without a date. Yay for bucking the trend, and yay for tradition.
The food was okay, and it was a fairly good time. I didn't do any dancing myself, as there were very few people dancing for most of the night. But some of the people who did go up to dance were.. surprises.
I ended up staying late, although I didn't stay until the end. I had to patrol the next day so I wanted to get some sleep in.
