It's interesting how I tend to introduce myself to people after I know them or visa versa. This probably has to do with the fact that I tend to get thrust into a group of complete strangers for an extended period of time (sports events, ski patrol, etc.). As everyone should know by now, I've got a very poor memory. Add this to my poor face recognition (unless she was very cute) and you end up with a guy who keeps calling people by "hey" or "man". This is not actually too much of a problem because if I do it all the time, people think that it's the way I talk. It's interesting how mannerisms can hide some deficiencies. Anyway, during the ski sale on Saturday, I was getting to know a few of the people working there, and one of the guys from my learning centre asked,
Oh, so you're [QYV]? Hi, I'm [insert name]." *offers hand*
Yup, meeting people after the fact.
Oh, here's a Counter-Strike story that one or two of you might be interested in. I was plaing cs_india on Nite's FF server. I'd never played that map before, but I already had it downloaded, and it was sort of interesting (lots of swimming, and destroyable walls). Anyway, I was doing poor for the longest time before I started discovering the "secret" routes in the map. Then I started to survive much longer and went from 4-14 to 13-18. Dangerman was watching me for a while (saw me die many, many times) and he was there when I was the last one..
I was a counter-terrorist in a hostage rescue situation, and my team was doing poorly. It always did poorly, but this time exceptionally so. I was heading towards the terrorist base and took a guy out (sending me to 80%) when I checked the score and noticed that I was the only CT left. There were five Ts left running around. Shi-ite. This is okay, I figure I might as wel try to survive huh? *checks corners* I found a terrorist hiding in one of the windows and took him down with my Steyr Aug (Dangeman convinced me to drop the Colt and play with it). Then I went into the water, and surprised one of the Ts standing guard. Two down, and I was down to 50%. I then headed onto a rooftop and heard footsteps below, so I waited until I saw another terrorist running back to the base, I took some pot shots but he hit me good. I was able to take him down fortunately, but I was down to 10%. Running back and forth to check both sides, I saw another guy running across the field. Four down.
At this point, I saw a message on my screen from the admin:
qyv, rescue the hostages or you will be slapped.
What the..? Oh, fine fine. (If I had done that at the beginning, I would've been dead long ago.) So I headed down the stairs (I didn't know there was a shortcut into the base from the roof.) and that's where I saw the second message:
Ten seconds before slapping commences.
What?!? I was heading towards the base! Geez, the moment I got into one of the cells (where the hostages were being held) I got slapped. Ouch, down to 5%. I had just enough time between slaps to reach one of the hostages before getting slapped again, and again, and again, and.. well, I never had a chance to talk to one of them when I slaps finished me off. *fumes*
Admins are great, but only when they're on your side. *looks at scoreboard*
<- notices that two of the admins are on the terrorist side.
*rubs chin*

I don't know what to make of this, but I first found the link at the ShackNews.
