MJNL and I were driving home from my parents' place. We were heading south on Kennedy Road and was approaching Sheppard Avenue when we noticed a cherry picker on the side of the road with pylons around it. It looked like one of the workers was looking at the transformer on one of the telephone poles. MJNL told me to go into the left lane, but the truck was not blocking the middle lane so I just stopped next to them for the red light.
Just after the light turned green, there was a very loud pop, and we were bathed in darkness. The entire block was out of power. I was going through the intersection just on inertia, while MJNL was wondering if the worker was okay. By the time that thought registered, I was already at the next intersection.
We were about to call in to 680 News to inform them of the power outage when just as quickly, the lights came on everywhere. The traffic lights also reset, and quickly went back into working mode (much to my surprise).
I wonder if that was all planned?
