Ah, I finally condensed the cookies and made it work. Sort of. It is not the most elegant solution, and there are a few little things that are bothering me, but for the most part I have removed the cookie issue. I am now using six cookies, which is well below the limit. (I was using something like twenty-five at one point in time.)

I got a call this morning. The power is out at work, so I am still at home. Without power, the servers are down, which means that I can not even do any work if I wanted to! On top of that, all of the phone numbers are on the server so I cannot contact anyone who I do not have contact information available locally.
Ah well, what can you do?

I was planning on going to theMediaman's birthday bash downtown tonight. Since it was downtown, and I had plenty of time (since I did not go to work), I decided that I would take public transit. Just as I was heading out, I got a call from a number I did not recognize.
I picked up and it took me several seconds to recognize the voice at the other end. Apparently I had not seen her around because she was hospitalized. So I felt sorry for her, until she told me why she was calling: she wanted to leave town.
Uh huh.
On top of that, she wanted me to go along and keep her company while she confronted someone.
Uh huh.
I was already going to be late, so I started walking to the bus stop.
Now in the back of my mind, I was thinking that this was a half baked idea that somehow managed to find the light of day because someone probably was not taking all of their medication.
Anyway, I tried to convince her that it was not a good idea. Firstly because it was last minute (she wanted to take a cheap flight out a few hours later), and she only wanted to be there for the night. Also, there were no firm plans on getting back! It was not something that I wanted to get into.
I could find a way back, with enough money. But I really was not in a spending mood, and she was not going to pay for my flight. But she eventually told me that she got a ticket on line, so I was compelled to sort of agree to chaperon.
By this time, I had given up on the TTC idea and drove down to the bar. When I arrived, I did not see anyone else there. After a few phone calls, I found out that the party was moved from seven to nine o'clock! Doh!
So I had dinner at the bar.
I had sort of agreed to meet her later because she needed a ride to the airport, but I was really in no mood to go anywhere. People did start showing up for the party though. It was pretty good, but what was better was when I got a message from the girl that she decided to change her mind on the trip! Yes! I was free!
I ended up staying at the bar until the end, and gave a lift back for a few people before heading home.
