These past few days have highlighted a major issue when I ride to work: oil on the road. A little bit of oil on my tire could cause me to lose traction and control of the bike. Cars have less of an issue because there are four tires that contact the ground, and losing two is not fatal. Losing one tire on a bike is pretty much a guaranteed crash.
Now I am pretty sure that everyone and their dog has their air conditioners running at full power in their vehicles, and this tends to generate a lot of condensation which ends up falling onto the road. Unfortunately from my vantage point, I cannot really tell if there is water in front of me or oil so I try to avoid every wet spot that I see.
When the road is littered with spots, it makes riding a lot more difficult.
