Apparently Mote in God's Eye is considered hard science fiction. It's an interesting read for sure.

I haven't been doing much of the ordinary of late, but I've been spending time reading. Hopefully I should be done by the end of the week.

[3:29 PM EST - I'm getting a Seagate now?]

KP has been scoping out a hard drive for me and had originally told me that he was picking up a 300 GB Maxtor drive. When we got back from the break, he told me that he was getting a Seagate instead. I was confused as to the change until Derelict pointed me to this article.

I just did a couple of quick searches for the Babylon 5 sims and came across The Babylon Project and Babylon 5: I've Found Her.

In addition, Derelict passed along a link to some Wing Commander stuff.

[5:23 PM EST - I've got a bottle of Hg at home..]

GWG passed along a link regarding the toxicity of Amalgam/Mercury dental fillings. I've had my fillings replaced with the white stuff, but he mentioned that they may just have covered the top of the filling and used Amalgam underneath..

The wikipedia also has an entry regarding this controversy.
