My parents got a call from a collection agency. Apparently they were looking for me. I didn't remember owing anyone or anything any money (actually, I'm owed many hundreds of dollars from various sources), but I called back to find out what this was about. Apparently someone didn't update their records and had me labeled as the accounts payable for the patrol.
I remember getting a call many moons ago from the company and I had informed them that the money matters had changed hands. But I guess they never updated their records. I've passed the information along, but I wonder if this will be reflected in my credit history?

Not a bad idea to check your official credit report every once in awhile (especially if you're paranoid about identity theft). Try Equifax or Transunion. They're free and you only need to mail them copies of some ID.

Yeah, my last one was before I got my mortgage. I guess it's time to check again?
